Venestesia, a Venice you can hear and touch

Venestesia: a multisensory work combining tactile models and a sound map of Venice for blind and partially sighted people. Unity, MIDI and sound design.

Venestesia, a Venice you can hear and touch

Play the island of Venice like a musical instrument.

Venestesia is a multisensory work combining digital technologies and tactile models. A sound map of the city makes the cultural fabric of Venice accessible to blind and partially sighted people.

I conceived the work and led its creative direction and development, together with the Italian Union of the Blind and Partially Sighted (UICI) and FabLab Venezia. The software is developed in Unity and C#, with MIDI and sound engineering.

It is one of my invented instruments, and one of the projects where technology and accessibility become the same thing.
